Everything's rosy

     Dress- homemade

Here is the first of my sewing projects from this summer! I've had no idea what to do with all my free
time, its been a total shock to the system. I almost miss the library because of this my sewing has just gone into overdrive trying to pass the time in a semi-productive way. Usually I'm far too much of a perfectionist to ever wear out the things I make, but I'm quite happy with this cheeky little number, so wearing it out today was awesome.

I also need more blogs to read to fill my time so if you're reading this leave a your link in the comments below!

I still have items on ebay, take a look!

Green and yellow=60s canary

SUN?! WHAT?!! HELLO YOU JOYFUL BALL OF GAS YOU! NICE TO SEE YOU!
It was sunny today, and I don't know if you heard, that doesn't happen very often here England. We, as a nation, are very excited about it.

Today I donned a 60s number to revise in, feeling a little like a colourful canary. It was originally paired with some skin-coloured tights, but they weren't half as exciting as the possibility of this fabulous colour clashing opportunity. I embraced this opportunity wholeheartedly. Also, if you are a VERY avid reader you will remember that these were the sunglasses which I won from Chloe (they are quite easily the most expensive thing I own BY MILES) so it's always jolly exciting to whip them out and I think they complimented this 6os ensemble nicely.

I would just like to point out that, as obviously, all my photos are taken in my room you never get to see what footwear I'm sporting. To clear up any mystery it is always a pair of dodgy old white converses, which always ruin my outfit, because they are the only shoes I can lug books around in. Very glamourous.

p.s. I promise I am not a stalker, the crazy ass sticker chaos is history revision. PROMISE. (......I love you Benedict.....)

50s jacket and awkward hands

I'm avoiding revision. My revising has gone DRASTICALLY down hill these past few weeks, just as it's starting to become important. I feel like my brain is full and every time I go to start revising I just become so painfully bored I can't actually concentrate on anything. I'm very stressed about this.

On the other hand however, I really liked my outfit today. I mean yes, I was sweating one out when the sun came out later in the day, but apart from that it was great. What's even better is that the whole outfit probably cost me no more than £20, the dress and skirt being part of bulk buys from the TBWA (still not their poster girl) kilo sale and the hat coming from my local Cats Protection charity shop. SHOUT OUT TO CATS PROTECTION, my favourite charity shop of all. They even have pictures of cats in the changing room, which is great until you realise they are watching you change and judging your clothing choices.

I hope everyone else who is doing exams is making a much better job of it than me! I also apologise for my awkward hand poses in the pictures, I seem to have turned into a knock off Florence Welch, but I wanted you to be able to see the amazing shape of this jacket. It is a THOUSAND TIMES BETTER than the square blazer everywhere sells, but that's just because I generally wear my clothes three sizes to small in the hope that I look like an hour glass, opposed to whatever kind of fruit it is I actually look like (apple? pear? banana?!).

Strawberry tea

Hey guys! It was my leaver's tea the other day. Basically, all those year 13s who are leaving, get together dressed all fancy and have some fancy afternoon tea, know like the kind of tea with tiny sandwiches, small pastries and scones on a tiered sandwich-turret-stand. I ate a lot because everything was so small, not one sandwich or scone remained on our table.

My dress was from Modcloth, and I am totally enamoured with it. We won't talk about the hideous postage costs of the hideous custom charges, we will ignore those things, because it is a lovely and perfect dress.  I'm also going to be very honest with you here. I have been watching a lot of Gossip Girl recently, which you will most certainly know if you follow me on twitter, I may have worn a headband in an attempt to be Blair Waldorf. I would be embarrassed, but I'm not. She's awesome.

Someone clearly didn't get the memo about the pastel colour scheme...

PINK

This outfit was very pink. I looked like a 1950s marshmallow, and I loved it. I did look a little like I was in fancy dress on my way to Grease party, but who the hell cars?! Not I!

You will be pleased to know that after taking the second photo I realised that my scarf looked like a neck brace and made it slightly less thick, although I imagine it won't be long until neck brace chic becomes a thing alongside other magazine favourites such as 'sport-luxe' *scoffs*. IT'S JUST OVER PRICED JOGGING BOTTOMS AND IMPRACTICAL TRAINERS, WHAT COULD MAKE IT WORSE?!

Check that

Love me a 1950s checked number, nothing better. Picked up this little number at the kilo sale. Whose kilo sale I hear you say. TO BE WORN AGAIN'S OF COURSE, WHO ELSE?! I also paired it with a petticoat from Snooper's Paradise which is extraordinarily heavy. I have now had to take it off because it was actually hurting me. I had to weigh up what was more important to me, comfort or swooshyness. Swooshyness won for the majority of the day.
This dress was meant to be going in the etsy shop, but some how it ended up on me? No, I don't know how it happened either. BUT there will be new items in the shops this weekend, SO KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED LIKE AN ORANGE. What a beautiful simile.

Hello all, how are we? (I will persist with this). I hope you're all still enjoying your exam season and spending your time far much more wisely than I am.

In today's outfit I have done my favourite thing of buying a dress and then completely ignoring its original purpose and wearing it as a skirt instead. To be honest with you, the top of this dress is very low cut and I would've been quite chilly today. I picked up this shirt when Urban Outfitters were having a fantastic BUY ONE SALE ITEM GET THE OTHER FREE sale. It was very exciting and I ended up getting this shirt free. HAPPY DAYS.

Please ignore my very makeshift dress form in the background. In case you were wondering it's made from a duct tape mould of my body, stuffed with a pillow, shoved on an old light stand. Very technical, requires lots of skill. Feel free to try it at home for equally disappointing results!

I'm not sure what's going on with my hip here, I think I may have been falling over slightly when I took this, accounting for the odd shape of my legs.

In black to mourn the end of of my academic career.

Hello all! How are we? No one ever answers, why do you never answer? I'm worried about you. How are you?! I'm sure there's some of you who are distinctly not okay because you've just realised how soon your exams are. Am I right? Yeah, same.

Remember when I used to have half decent pictures for my outfits? Not anymore. I'm still waiting to get myself one of those blogger boyfriends. The hunt is not going well. But you probably guessed that.

I picked up this lovely little 60s dress in a local vintage shop, I mean I was meant to be in there picking out an outfit for the sixth form fashion show, but I got a little distracted. They were lovely, and said they'd hold it a week for me until I got paid. This dress is a hundreds times better in the flesh so trust me when I say it is fantastic and fits me like a VERY WELL-FITTING GLOVE.

I'm going to now listen to The Boat that Rocked soundtrack on repeat and weep for my lost university place.

Have you realised yet that I whole heartedly believe this to be my better side?

Sunday, 13 April 2014

Hi there, do you need any help at all?

How ARE we all?! I'm going to provide you with some rare insights to actual, dire state of my room. Just look at the mess on that dressing table. Look at the dress hanging behind me from my taking pictures of it and being to lazy to put it back. My room is a safety hazard the majority of the time.

I'm really surprised, and I'm sure you are too, that To Be Worn Again Vintage haven't rung me up to be their poster girl yet? It wasn't till I started putting my outfits back up on here that I realised, HOW MUCH I buy from there. Guys, if you're reading I'm open to doing any ad campaigns or instore signings/promotions or you know, just claiming loyal customer discount? Seriously, it's no bother.

I put this outfit together and realised I felt like a diner gal, you know like Mel from that annoying fucking bank advert? You know the one. I want to go in there and just buy a sausage roll to piss them off. Sorry, rant over. Anyway, that is what I was going for in the first picture, not just demonstrating how long and flat my hand can be.

There are a lot pictures of my face in this post, I'm sorry, but my hair had reached new heights this day.

The Carpet Coat

If you're on holiday now, how are you finding it? Having fun times i hope. I would like to take the time to introduce to the Carpet Coat, thus named because every single time I were it someone asks if it is made of an old carpet/curtain. It is not. It was actually fairly expensive, thank you very much. It does look like a carpet though, in the very best way.
This dress has been hanging around in my wardrobe for ages now, it was a little too short when I bought it really, and it definitely is now,  but I live dangerously these days. One gusty breeze and it could all be over though.

Not sunny and no scarfs

It wasn't sunny today, which is good because it means I can wear black and not sweat buckets or look out of place among the fields of pastels. YAY FOR BLACK. I love black, I feel so classy.

And I can spill food on my self when I eat and you can't see it. As I said, classy.

This dress is a super staple in my wardrobe, its a black 60s pencil dress thing and I wear it ALL THE TIME, and it was a bargain. YAAY FOR BLACK DRESS. And it's pretty little being about two sizes too small for me in reality, but you know, I like a challenge when I get dressed in the morning.

Do you like how the quality of my photos has just gone so far downhill since I have no one but my laptop to take them for me? I also lost my tripod. How does one lose a tripod? I guess if I had known the answer to that I wouldn't have lost it. I'm so philosophical.

ALSO, keep your eyes peeled, open with cocktail sticks, not closed, because I'm going to have the first of my items up in my etsy store VERY SOON (I need to stop with the capitals, I know). It's become a great form of procrastination for me, setting up an online store midway through revision, yay for good life choices!

oh HIYA, hello, hai!

I'm still alive. I know, I'm sorry blog, I've treated you badly. I can't just come along and pick you up and use you when I feel like it. That's not how a loving relationship works. I can't just decide to see you when it suits me and takes my fancy. I know we have to work on this together, this is a two way thing, and I'm sorry. I promise to only make my post sporadic from now on, instead of sparse.

It almost feels silly, sitting down here and writing about what clothes I put on, I'm out of practice. But yes blog, you're right. I have been seeing other people. During our break I did procrastinate with other writing formats. I may have gotten bored and started writing a terrible screen play instead, I may have gotten bored and written superfluous tumblr posts and may also have reached a very low point in my most bored days where I wrote 17,000 words of an awful novel and for that I'm sorry.

I'm glad I got that off my chest.

I don't know if you noticed but it was quite sunny? I only know because I saw it on instagram, I myself, was locked in the library revising, for all I know the outside world may well now have taken on a permanent 'rise' filter. Nevertheless, here is what I wore to said afternoons in the library, and I really think the librarians appreciated these ones, I really do.

Long time no blog speak my friends. How are you? Have you managed to ascertain what kind of mood the English weather is in today? I haven't, I've been sweating in my black tights all day. Making bad life choices since '96.

Anyway, the other week was my 'Sixth Form Summer Ball'. We all dressed up proper fancy and the dj played some 'choons', it was a pretty rockin'. A cautionary tale for you children, don't tape a hip flask to your upper leg, it's not klassy or practical, especially when it starts leaking down your leg. Just don't do it. Another good life choice by me.

My dress was my grandma's which she wore for her 21st, made for her by her mum, which was my favourite story to tell everyone on the night! It made me happy. It's now hung in my room, hopefully I'll be able to wear it again soon.

Feel free to play the game, guess which Ellie thinks is her 'side'. Have you guessed yet?!

Gonna make my own money, gonna buy my own land

Blazer- Zara    Dress- H&M

The end of exams are in sight, just two more gruelling ones then I'm done. *victory dance to come on eileen*. I've become such a regular in the public library now that I know when all the librarians have their shifts. I KNOW WHEN TO AVOID YOU LADY THAT LIKES COMPLETE EAR SPLITTING SILENCE, I KNOW WHEN YOU WORK. Not that that makes any difference to me, seeing as I'm usually there revising on my own. PARTY HARD.

If you have exams, I hope they're going a-okay. Hit the books, they don't hit back. Fight with the bull, get the horns. Hugs not drugs. You can do it guys, I believe in you.

Until next time.

Damn that girl like avian prints.

Jumpsuit- Topshop

She's only gone and done two posts in the same amount of days. Look at her go! Unbelievable! She loves avian patterned clothes!

This jumpsuit cost me a meagre ten pounds. No one wanted a jumpsuit covered in swans, it seems like a very workable item to me. Definitely something Gok would throw in a capsule wardrobe.

These were taken in the two minutes in the whole day I wasn't trying to swallow a revision guide whole. Are you bored of hearing about my revision yet? I'd like to write about something interesting BUT MY WHOLE LIFE IS JUST REVISION. I SEE FLASH CARDS AND FELT TIPS WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES.
